Chris claims that the power of human “Spare Cycles” (a.k.a spare time) is the driver behind Open Source, Web 2.0 and more.
Although somewhat different, Google’s approach of encouraging their employees to use 20% of their spare time for pursuing projects they are passionate about (and the results of this approach), is a nice example of what tapping the power of “Spare Cycles” can achieve.
